L’Oreal Paris recently sent me their latest L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints collection. I’ve been enjoying these products so much, I just had to do a post. Other than the product I received, I’m not being sponsored to write this. But when something works for me, you know I need to share. Also, I’m often asked if I really wear L’Oreal products as much as I say I do, and the answer is yes. I’ve been wearing True Match foundation since 2004 (Sand Beige specifically), and continue to find new reasons to come back for more. The Infallible Paints collection is perfect for creating a raspberry (and shimmer) Spring look.
I’m not going to start this post and pretend that there’s not an adorable furry guest in the photo who needs to approve all of my makeup remover picks, like this one from Neutrogena. That’s Apollo, and he always has to make a debut when I take product shots. In fact, this was moments before he knocked everything down. But this was too cute not to share. Plus, he’s a pro at resting and knows what to do to avoid aging while you sleep.
OK, maybe he doesn’t.
I often get questions about my hair care routine, so I thought I would write a post about it in case you were wondering too. As you can tell from all of my pictures, I have a lot of hair. What many people don’t know is that it’s actually really curly. I don’t usually wear it natural because my curls drop quickly no matter what I do. It’s a combination of it naturally not holding curls well and all of the stuff I’ve done to it over the years. It just falls flat.

Giving my body and skin all the love and nourishment it needs to go through its natural process over next several years is what I call aging gracefully. For me, it’s about staying positive, living in the moment, keeping myself inspired with art, taking care of my health, getting plenty of rest and being one with nature. When I don’t do this, my inner pilot light starts to dim causing me to feel and look like I’ve aged overnight.
When Mirada de Provence reached out to me about their botanical skincare line made in the Southeastern region of France, I had to say yes. Like me, they believe in the power of aging gracefully with nature. Many women are surprised to learn that my “anti-aging” routine consists of natural ingredients, and that I swear by naps, water and eating plenty of greens to keep hair and skin smooth and supple.
Last week, I was invited to participate in a Master Class with L’Oreal Paris hosted by celebrity makeup artist Claudia Bentancur. We were set up with a makeup stations, and followed her instructions for creating a smokey eye look that she designed. It was actually pretty awesome to see how everyone’s look was so different in the end, even though it was the same tutorial. Some were super dramatic while others very soft and subtle, which goes to show you there’s no one way to apply makeup. In fact, Claudia, who works often with Jennifer Lopez, admitted that her clients teach her a lot about tricks that work for their face that may not work for someone else.
For my look, I didn’t go very heavy with color because I wanted to go for a day or night finish. Also, I find that too much makeup makes me look older. I have very strong features and large eyelids, so I like to keep my look soft.
But that’s the beauty of makeup, right? It’s all about preference. So I’m going to list what we did, and you can try it out yourself. Add more or a little less, it’s all up to you. The shadow and lip colors used in Claudia’s custom look are gorgeous, and perfect for women with brown eyes. [Read more…]
I’m so ready for Fall. This is the season to play with reds, nudes, you name it. But not just any reds and nudes…they need to match with olive skin tone (and bronde hair).
Finding the perfect lip color for olive skin takes a bit of work. My skin has yellow/green neutral undertone so colors that are too bright with hints of orange don’t work that well on me. It makes me look pale. I stick with lip colors that have a blue undertone, which isn’t always so obvious at first when you’re shopping. From years of painting, I can spot the hues I need right away but if your eye can’t pick it up, try the following to find the right lip color for you.
I will never forget the night before #WeAllGrow Summit 2015 – I was plagued with worry that I would not be well. TMJ had given me such a kick in the butt, my body was not to be trusted. Could I stand for long hours? Would I get dizzy? Will I get brain fog and forget everyone’s name? I’d been doing so much better, it was all just too good to be true. All of this and more was playing over and over in my head as I came home from an evening of last minute shopping. I sat on my bed and looked over an empty suitcase that needed to be packed. I was so overwhelmed by all that still needed to be done, I decided to rest my head instead. I needed to clear my mind of all the noise. I felt a box underneath neck and quickly turned around to move it out of the way. It was then that I noticed a bottle of perfume beautifully wrapped in a gorgeous bow.
Summer is here! That means, I work half days on Fridays and the company shuts down for a week so we can all go on our much needed vacations at the same time. We learned that there was no such thing as taking a vacation when everyone else was working. There was almost always a reason we needed to take a call or answer an email. By shutting it all down, we can safely not worry about missing anything.
‘Summer Fridays’ started last week so I used the rest of the day to organize everything I’d like to do this summer. It doesn’t include travel (I will plan a few things, but nothing extravagant) so don’t expect any posts from Santorini, Greece any time soon. It includes my glam room and art studio.
Lately I’ve gotten in the habit of dabbing a bit of eyeshadow to go with my mascara and liner before leaving the house, which is something I did not always do. Maybe now that I’m a bit older, I like the idea of adding a little color and shimmer to brighten up my eye. I have very large lids, and when I’m tired … Boy, do they show it. So I tested out L’Oréal Paris’ New Colour Riche Monos, and they’re giving me the refresher I need.

I would love to give away this delicious fragrance for Mother’s Day to celebrate love in all its forms. Whether you’re raising a family with the love of your life or doing it on your own, love is at the center of everything we do as mothers. And there’s nothing like dabbing a bit of perfume to say I love me too.
