Coming down from a three day birthday celebration, which is something I haven’t done in a long time. Drinks (and dancing to 90s hip-hop) with friends, loved ones and a very special Hibachi lunch with my son. Today, I woke up like I’d been partying for weeks. My body is like um, you’re not 25, take it down a notch.
Meditation is not for everyone, and it’s especially hard if you find it difficult to do it without a bit of guidance. I know this because I’m one of those people. Although I practice meditation often, I find it much easier to shut off the noise with a little bit of help.
If you love the idea of meditation but not sure you can get into it, check out these meditation apps. I swear by the Calm app. I use it at my desk, in the morning, at night and even when I’m mid-flight and feel a bit of anxiety.
If you would’ve told me that I would feel (or even want to feel) sexy after 40 when I was in my 20s, I would have laughed. Anything over 40 seemed over the hill. But as they say, youth is wasted on the young and I certainly had a lot of thoughts back then that make me wish I could just give that young woman a hug. Had I known then what I know now, life would have played out much differently (let-me-tell-you).
Feeling sexy means something different to everyone. For me, it means owning your fabulousness and not caring what anyone says or thinks. I’m turning 44 this month, and I’m convinced we get better with age.
I spend a lot of time in front of the computer for work. It feels so good to get dressed in something floral and off the shoulder to have brunch with friends. Or to celebrate them, like I did recently when I attend Rizos on the Road here in LA. My friends Ada and Rocio toured the country empowering women to love the natural hair. How awesome is that?
We were recently treated to a savory dinner at barcito in DTLA (South Park, a few blocks east of Staples Center), and I need to tell you all about it. Because look at that drink. It was as good as it looks. Also, this Argentinian gem will be featured in dineLA’s summer series from July 14-28. If you’re planning your must-eat spots, make sure this one is on your list.
Excuse the some of the mess in here (and on my social) while I do a semi-rebrand. I say “semi” because much of the content will remain the same but you will see changes here and there, as I adapt to this new entreprenuerial life.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’m no longer working full-time for another company. I decided to take the plunge and start my own business as a Digital Marketing Strategist. Making this decision wasn’t overnight. I’d been thinking about it for some time along with the idea of possibly diving into the corporate world. The latter didn’t feel right at the time. It wasn’t calling me as much as starting my own business. I meditated and prayed on it, and when my former boss told me that the company was downsizing and restructuring, I knew it was the universe’s way of telling me to go for it.
Making a terrarium is so much fun and relaxing. Plus, they look beautiful so you can’t really go wrong making one and they’re easy to take care of no matter what climate you live in. They just need a bit of direct sunlight everyday and a few spritzes of water every two weeks or so.
I’ve been shopping at Urban Outfitters since I was in college (in the early 90s, eeek!). With every year that goes by, the customers and salespeople seem to get younger and younger, but it doesn’t stop me from loving their denim and tees. They just get it right. Their pants have always fit me, and I’m loving their huge collection of high-waist jeans in a variety of colors and washes. I’ve been wearing these BDG high waist, cropped leg jeans on repeat, and I can’t wait to go back and rack up on some more summer denim.
I’m ready to embrace summer in bright colors, patterns and flowy dresses. It’s a season that marks the beginning of a new chapter for me. After 6 years with #WeAllGrow Latina Network, I am off on my own as a digital marketing strategist, full-time blogger and artist. It’s an exciting time full of lots of new adventures! I’m officially calling it the summer of color. Taking this fresh white canvas and painting a new life for me and my family. I had an amazing time the last several years, but it’s time to take all that I’ve learned and grow even more as a person and professional in the digital space.
Last weekend, Toyota sent me on a staycation to Temecula to enjoy a glass of wine, food and music at the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival. I mean, how can anyone say no to that offer? I got to see Bush live, which was pretty cool (especially for me because my heart never really left the 90s) and I did a bit of shopping. But first, we took a few style pictures of me with the new Camry XSE because it really is a beauty. I mean, look at those hood lines and sport mesh front grille. And that red. Isn’t it a gorgeous?
