I have a lot in the works, so wearing easy peazy breezy clothes this season is top priority. Especially during the hot days coming up ahead in LA. I grabbed a few affordable pieces at Tobi for summer. I paired their Mary Mauve May dress (because I love baby doll dresses) with these heels and earrings from Target for easy on the pockets yet stylish look.
Another Monday style post on a Tuesday, but I refused to open my laptop yesterday and I obviously didn’t have enough foresight to plan and schedule the post in advance. I’ve been working on so much content, I still haven’t been able to master the scheduling part of blogging as of yet. I will get there though. Taking it one day at a time. Or should I say one dress at a time. Because, really, I think that’s all I want to wear this summer. Dresses. Like this a-line brick color beauty or this floral lace number.
When I was going through my divorce in 2007, my emotions had completely taken over me. And every time I allowed them to, I got increasingly disappointed in myself. I wasn’t consistently practicing things like yoga and meditation, and found myself in an endless cycle of trying to be strong and holding my ground instead of focusing on myself. It felt awful. I knew that I only had control over myself and the way I responded to others, and that I had to do something about the pattern I felt stuck in. I just wasn’t sure where to start.
A few months ago, I was introduced to pranic healing by a fellow blogger who practices and offered to do a healing session with me. Intrigued, I agreed to it without really knowing what it was. She said it required no touch or conversation, and that she will work on it at 10pm. All I needed to do was to bathe prior to the time and relax. Huh?

My style posts usually go up on Mondays but I have a few things going on (sorry to be vague for now) and I’m also seeing a new chiropractor whose treatments are kicking my butt. The technique is QSM3 (Quantum Spinal Mechanics), which is basically a progression of NUCCA (national upper cervical association) — the type of chiropractic care I’ve been receiving for the last two years. My new treatment works on smoothing out the fascia, and is very gentle. But man, it knocks-me-out. I can easily nap for 4 hours afterwards and sleep just fine throughout the night. My body is begging for rest and TLC, and I’ve been making sure it gets it.
But not so fast. I have lots of content that I’m excited to share, including several summer looks like this floral and lace dress that’s perfect for a shower, birthday celebration, graduation or any summer event you have coming up.
This has to be by far the simplest recipe on the planet, but I actually do not like the taste of water and something needed to be done. Now before you say water doesn’t taste like anything, that’s precisely why I don’t enjoy it. I drink it because I have to. I wasn’t always able to do so before because of my list of work responsibilities coupled with parenting, life and home management didn’t allow me to be as consistent as I would have liked. theArtMuse was a side side hustle, as I worked at night writing articles for other sites. But my goal is to turn this into my everyday content driven work of art. I want to share every thing I’ve learned and all I’m experiencing in this crazy life we live. That includes my style journey. With every year that goes by, I change and so does my personal style. Just a couple of years ago, I have loved my shorts short and my dresses tight. I mean, I still love all that stuff. This Latina will be showing off her curves for as long as she can, but I’ve definitely been embracing different silhouettes a lot more, like this bell sleeve floral duster.
This book was given to me by my mom when I was 18 years old during my high school graduation. In it was a letter she had written to me about her journey as my mother. Back then, I wasn’t able to really put myself in her shoes but I do remember feeling emotional and grateful that she loved me so much, and that she was so proud of me.
My son will be 18 in the fall, and I can now say I know where she was coming from – the ups, the downs, worries, triumphs, challenges, you name it. It’s one of those things you just have to go through to really understand the depth of what this journey entails. There’s no handbook when it comes to parenting and no matter how many stories you hear, your path as a parent will be your own.
