If you follow me on Snapchat then you probably saw a million snaps on Wednesday of me at Hipcooks in Los Angeles. My friend Romy invited a group of us to cook, bake, eat and drink … And I got carried away documenting all of it. Who knew cooking would be that fun? But, shhh, don’t tell my fiancé. He will expect more fun-loving grilling and chopping in the kitchen from me, and I can’t say I’m quite there yet. I can cook and do enjoy it sometimes, but I’m no Martha Stewart. He pretty much handles most of the cooking around here, and knows how to prepare some really fantastic dishes. Why ruin a good thing, eh?
The event was hosted by The Crossings , so we got to try their Sauvignon Blanc. Let me start by saying that I’m not a big white wine person, but I really like this one. I know. You’re probably thinking – this is in collaboration with the brand, of course you liked it, Rachel. I hear your thoughts. All of them. But that’s not the case at all. I really enjoy it. In fact, I’m drinking a glass right now.
The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc is very rich, smooth and crisp. It tastes like it has hints or pear and apple, and goes with a variety of dishes. Let’s see, we made potato, green bean, basil & pine nut salad, scallop spiedini with anchovy sauce, lemon rice with roasted fennel (which had many of use going for seconds and thirds!) and a raspberry walnut roll. This bottle of wine went well with everything. I’m actually going to try it with salmon over the weekend. I think that would be a great pairing. Not bad for someone who loves her Cabernet. But, hey, it’s international Sauvignon Blanc day (yes, that’s a thing!) and it’s Friday! I’m going to enjoy every sip.
